Free Testing

What started out as an experiment has become a fixture! Optic Wave Labs continues to offer free test services. In order to provide ongoing aid to the astronomical community, Optic Wave Labs will indefinitely continue to offer free optical testing of all newtonian (parabolic) mirrors up to 18" aperture.

Upon receipt of your mirror we will test it with our computerized test system and provide you with and EMAIL report of the P-V error and Strehl ratio. After the test is completed we will re-pack and return ship your mirror to you.

If you would like to take advantage of this free service MUST do the following.

#1. Notify us via email that you are sending a mirror for the free test. You MUST place the words "FREE MIRROR TEST" in the subject line of your email. Be serious about doing this! Send your mirror within two days of notifying us.

#2. Wait for email confirmation that it is O.K. to send your mirror. At times we are rather busy and we need to control the flow of optics through our facility.

#3. Download and fill out the following "order" form. This MUST be included with your mirror. If you do not include this form , we will not test your mirror. Order Form - Click (pdf)

#4. Shipping: Your return shipping address MUST be suitable for receiving UPS or FEDEX shipments. (No P.O. boxes). You MUST include payment for return shipping plus $10.00 handling and repackaging materials. Once you have assembled and weighed your package, use the ups shipping calculator at www.ups.com to calculate the shipping amount.

#5. Wait patently. We will contact your when we receive your mirror and when we return ship your mirror. We expect to have your mirror "in house" approximately one to two weeks.
