Telescope Mirrors

Optic Wave Laboratories offers a standard line of parabolic or Newtonian telescope mirrors. All mirrors are made in-house on our commercial fabrication equipment - no "home built" rickety machines. From diamond curve generation, grinding, polishing, figuring, testing and coatings - we control the entire process. This means better quality control and faster delivery time.

Special "Planetary" Mirrors

O. W. L. offers special "planetary" telescope parabolic mirrors. These mirrors are of of longer focal length which lend themselves to planetary telescopes. Although we offer these mirrors at a significantly lower cost they still meet all of our performance specifications listed below. The longer focal length makes them more manufacturable and therefore decreases our cost to you.

  • Prices are subject to revision at any time due to the shrinking supply of Pyrex mirror blanks.
  • Standard focal ratios, Strehl ratio of .950 or greater.
  • Standard mirrors on substrates of thicknesses in the semi-thin range.
    Provides a balance between stiffness and thermal equalization.
  • Custom thicknesses available upon request—additional charges may apply.
  • Pricing for Pyrex plano (ground flat) back.
  • F/5 f-ratio or slower.
    • Faster than f/5 add 15% per 1/2 stop in speed.
  • Includes standard aluminum coating in our in-house coater.
